La fortezza CONQUERS THE carrefour PLANET

La Fortezza Group consolidates its partnership with Carrefour , having been an official supplier since 2007. The retail giant has in fact decided to entrust three companies, including La Fortezza, with the refurbishment of 500 sales outlets in Europe. The order assigned to the northern Italian Group is worth some 30 million Euros, and is a prelude to other important assignments.

At the end of last year, Carrefour began an important restyling operation, with the transformation of 500 of its 668 European hypermarkets into highly progressive “Carrefour Planets”. La Fortezza was chosen to handle the restyling of the food, textiles, bazaar, and health & beauty areas in the hypermarkets in Belgium, France and Italy.

«Being chosen for this project – said Frascaroli – is the best acknowledgment of our ability for innovation ». Fortezza’s investments in R&D increased from 3 million Euros in 2009 to 5 del 2010, and this year will reach 7 million.

This important agreement with Carrefour, and the continuation of collaboration with other leaders in the retail sector, such as Auchan, Leroy Merlin and Metro, reinforce the Italian Group’s position on the international market. Exports now account for 72% of the turnover: a growing figure in this period of stagnation for the Italian retail sector. It is the success outside Italy that has allowed Fortezza’s management to forecast a turnover of 140 million Euros (+12%) in 2011 and Ebitda of 10 million. In the course of this year, the number of employees will increase by 40, bringing the total from 610 to 650.
